January 19, 2002 Notes - SIG leader Linda Kalb
We finally finished Chapter 7 ("Establishing Table Structures," a huge topic) and began Chapter 8 ("Keys") of Hernandez's book Database Design for Mere Mortals: A Hands-On Guide to Relational Database Design (Addison-Wesley 1997, ISBN 0201694719).

February 23, 2002 Notes - SIG leader Linda Kalb
We continued and finished Chapter 8 ("Keys") of Hernandez's book Database Design for Mere Mortals: A Hands-On Guide to Relational Database Design (Addison-Wesley 1997, ISBN 0201694719).

March 23, 2002 Notes - guest SIG leader Barry Dancis
We had a live demo by Barry Dancis on the design and construction of his Personnel Evaluation Database. His topics of discussion were Use of Dictionaries, Master - Child relationships, Relationship diagrams, Security, and Communicating between forms, but because of technical difficulties and time constraints he followed member interests and focused mostly on Security.

April 20, 2002 Notes - guest SIG leader Nancy Rossiter
We had a live demo of Nancy's school database in Access, focusing on Keys (the topic of Chapter 8 of Hernandez's book Database Design for Mere Mortals: A Hands-On Guide to Relational Database Design, Addison-Wesley 1997, ISBN 0201694719) and Table Relationships (Chapter 10). She answered the SIG member's many questions about design and implementation in multiple environments. Effective marketing techniques for independent database programmers/consultants to expand their client bases were also discussed.

May 18, 2002 Notes - guest SIG leader Barry Dancis
We had another live demo! Barry again demonstrated his personnel database, this time focusing on reports, Table Relationships, and how he programmed differing access levels and informational needs (what employer vs. employee should see/ have access to, for example) in user display.

June 15, 2002 Notes - guest SIG leader John Ashmead
Continued discussion of Field Specifications (Chapter 9 of Database Design for Mere Mortals: A Hands-On Guide to Relational Database Design, by Michael J. Hernandez. Addison-Wesley, 1997. ISBN: 0201694719).

October 19, 2002 Notes - SIG leader Linda Kalb

November 16, 2002 Notes - guest SIG leader John Davey
John Davey presented his database project in progress, with an emphasis on Table Relationships (the topic of Chapter 10 in Hernandez*). Prior to the meeting he had posted some notes at http://mywebpages.comcast.net/jadavey/Test/TowerDB.htm.

December 21, 2002 Notes - guest SIG leader John Davey
John Davey gave an update on his database project (in progress) as a case study for Chapter 10. He posted some notes about it at http://mywebpages.comcast.net/jadavey/Test/TowerDB.htm.
Also, Tony Kanak and Bill Connor introduced the members to PAACCESS, a local Microsoft Access User's Group they have recently formed. It is specifically focused on database design and programming around Microsoft Access databases.
